Out of Eden

⇧ SECTION LISTING

I ascended high above the oceans’ tides on wings that wished to be a bird
And touched the grounds of countries sometimes made with cold and fog
On roller coaster rides was I from glens to peaks that once arose from turd
Even so, whatever mist or mud there was could only slow a traveller’s slog

I disappeared and dissolved in the guise of a ghost that would mimic a soul
And roamed across the moors and lochs in times of darkest mood and twilight
Like a cruising vessel I could glide on waves and watch, in stars, the northern pole
Despite a gush of rains and rush of gales the sailor I became endured his pesky plight

I alighted where the sun, as wiser folks assert, is more at ease in hearts with higher spirits
And poised some time, at home abroad, in front of faces carved from longest kindred lineage
In a caravan coasting along with their laughter and lavender I was seceding from solitary pits
And still the sun and solace sought by most could not eclipse the faith towards my pilgrimage

I meandered where my sail belonged, on a riverside rhyming with Rhine or the Main and Divine
And zigzagued like a zombie lost in lures because a bonze had so become inside a siren’s heaven
From ferries I would fancy castles built without a throne, in awe of all the tall cathedrals’ skyline
No ramparts, no churchyards, however, were my call, but I couldn’t meet with Eve if not in Eden
